Surviving cancer is a triumph. Surviving three unrelated cancers?
That’s a miracle!
It’s a miracle Meghan Black lives with every day.

At just thirteen Meghan was at a sleep over party doing what young girls do best: gossiping, giggling and jumping on the trampoline.  Her world suddenly stopped as she collapsed with crippling pain.  She was rushed to the hospital where her family learned that she had a cyst the size of a football engulfing one of her ovaries. Inside the cyst, there was a malignant germ cell tumor.  Meghan began the fight for her life. She received intense chemotherapy and although it went into remission, Meghan’s battle with cancer was not over.

At sixteen, cancer struck Meghan’s adolescence yet again when she was diagnosed with leukemia. She was immediately registered for a bone marrow donor. In order to prepare her body for a transplant, Meghan faced chemotherapy for the second time in her young life. It would be the most aggressive form possible, followed by a series of intense full-body radiation.  A donor was found and the painful transplant was successful, but in many ways, Meghan’s developing body had been destroyed.

For the next 11 years she battled crippling fatigue and depression. Her “recovery” from leukemia would take longer than foreseen. While she was alive, she certainly wasn’t well, and she had a million unanswered questions about her health. With her family’s love and support, Meghan began to explore alternative forms of medicine and innovative therapies. It was a brave search that would ultimately transform her perception of health, healing, and well...Life.

In spite of how difficult these times were, Meghan proved that she’s a survivor in all definitions of the word. She set out to follow her dreams and built a prolific career as an actor.  At 27 she was enjoying a six figure-acting career, an awesome marriage…life was pretty good!  Unfortunately, the celebration was short lived when she received her third life-altering cancer diagnosis: a squamous cell carcinoma on her tongue. Her oncologist made the swift order to remove forty lymph nodes in her neck and one third of her tongue. She faced the stark reality that she would lose most of her speech and along with it, her acting career.

While these losses are incomprehensible, Meghan transcended them, changed forever. Armed with self-confidence gained by her experience, she embarked on a mission to learn everything she could about her body. It was at that time she was introduced to USANA Health Sciences.

“I am blessed to be a mother of three and be able to live my life on my terms now. I want to help empower people to take their health and their lives into their own hands. Because let’s face it, life doesn’t have a rewind button. And thanks to USANA I have been able to do just that.”
